Four individuals accused of murdering a woman by throwing acid at her on Kenyatta Road along the Thika Superhighway remain in police custody. The suspects will be held for an additional two weeks while a decision is made on their bail application.
Edwin Mutugu Wanjiru, Eliud Nganga Muiruri, Simon Mbua Wanjiku, and Anne Wanjiru are charged with dousing Dorothy Wambui Kiaraho, 66, with concentrated acid on February 15, 2024.
According to a DCI report, the suspects, traveling in a motor vehicle, attacked Ms. Kiaraho through the open driver’s window at the Kenyatta Road underpass around 2:30 am before fleeing the scene.
The attack resulted in severe burns, and Ms. Kiaraho succumbed to her injuries on April 9th. The suspects were apprehended on April 15th and booked at the Juja Police Station.
The DCI requested additional time to complete their investigation and potentially apprehend further suspects.
Thika Senior Resident Magistrate Fredrick Koome granted this request. The case will be reviewed on April 30, 2024.
