Kamirithu School receives learning upgrade

Kamirithu School in Limuru Constituency is undergoing a notable transformation following the rollout of classroom renovations and the provision of new learning facilities aimed at improving the learning environment for Junior Secondary School (JSS) and lower primary pupils.

Students at the institution are now benefiting from newly installed lockers and chairs, a move that has significantly improved comfort and classroom organization as teaching and learning activities continue.

The upgrades form part of a wider infrastructure improvement programme targeting education facilities within Limuru, with several classrooms already renovated and more works lined up for completion during the upcoming school holidays.

According to Limuru Member of Parliament John Kiragu Chege, the interventions are designed to ensure learners study in a more conducive environment while also supporting teachers in delivering quality education.

Chege noted that the ongoing renovations are being implemented through full funding from the Limuru National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), emphasizing that the programme reflects a commitment to strengthening education standards across the constituency.

He added that the project focuses not only on infrastructure but also on enhancing dignity and comfort for learners, especially those transitioning into the new competency-based curriculum structure.

The renovation works have already covered a number of lower primary classrooms, with structural improvements, repainting, and general refurbishment aimed at modernising the learning spaces. The next phase, scheduled for the school holiday period, will target the remaining classrooms to ensure the entire institution benefits from the upgrade programme.

Education stakeholders at the school have welcomed the improvements, noting that better seating arrangements and improved classroom conditions contribute to improved concentration and overall academic performance among learners.

Parents have also expressed optimism that continued investment in school infrastructure will help address long-standing challenges of overcrowding and inadequate facilities in public schools within the region.

The initiative comes as part of broader efforts by local leadership to align education infrastructure with current demands, especially under the expanding JSS system that requires additional learning spaces and resources.

Chege reiterated that his administration remains focused on delivering tangible development projects across Limuru, with education, roads, and water access remaining key priorities.

He further assured residents that more development projects are in the pipeline, urging the community to continue supporting ongoing initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening public services.

As the renovation works continue, Kamirithu School is expected to emerge as a model institution showcasing how targeted investment in education infrastructure can directly improve learning outcomes and restore dignity in public schools.
