Karura Forest implements e-Citizen payment system for entry, parking, and other visitor services starting August 29

Karura Forest will implement a new payment system for all visitors starting Friday, August 29, 2025, covering gate entry, parking, and related services. The update also applies to the Sigiria block.

The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) announced that all payments must now be made through the official e-Citizen platform using Paybill number 222222. The move follows a government directive requiring all public services to adopt e-Citizen for payments and discontinue non-designated platforms.

“Kenya Forest Service wishes to inform all visitors that, in line with the Government of Kenya’s directive on onboarding government services and closing non-designated payment platforms, all payments for gate entry, parking, and related services in Karura Forest, including Sigiria block, will be made exclusively through the official e-Citizen platform (Paybill 222222) effective Friday, 29th August 2025,” KFS stated.

The agency explained that the transition aims to enhance transparency, security, and efficiency in service delivery while making payments easier and more convenient for visitors.

KFS assured the public that all other activities and services in Karura Forest will continue as usual and that its collaboration with the Community Forest Association remains unchanged.

“Visitors are invited to continue enjoying Karura Forest and provide feedback to help us improve our services,” the agency added.
