The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced that there will be traffic disruptions at the Gitaru interchange on the Southern Bypass and Western Bypass from Wednesday, August 28, 2024, to Sunday, September 1, 2024.
These disruptions are necessary to facilitate the ongoing construction of the Southeastern loop of the Gitaru interchange.
Here are the alternative routes provided by KeNHA:
- Nakuru to Southern Bypass: Vehicles will turn at the Regen/Magana interchange, 3 kilometers from Gitaru, and proceed to the bypass.
- Western Bypass to Nairobi: Use the slip road at Kwa Magu underpass to Gitaru Market, then proceed to Mlango Soko and join the A8 at Rungiri.
- Nairobi to Ndenderu: Turn at Muguku interchange and proceed to the Western Bypass.
- Southern Bypass to Nairobi: Take the left turn at the slip road before making a U-turn to Nairobi via Waiyaki Way.
Routes that will not be disrupted include:
- Southern Bypass to Western Bypass and vice versa
- Nakuru/Mai Mahiu to Western Bypass
- Nairobi to Southern Bypass
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays.
