KeNHA Issues a 4 day Closure of Thika Road

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced a four-day closure of a section of Thika Road for essential maintenance. In a statement dated April 11, 2025, the agency specified that this closure will take place in Kihunguro. The work is intended to enhance the road’s durability and sustainability. Maintenance will occur from Friday, April 11, to Monday, April 14, 2025.

To reduce traffic disruption, the closure will happen at night between 11:00 PM and 4:00 AM. Workers will use this period to carry out necessary repairs efficiently and safely. The operation aligns with KeNHA’s commitment to maintaining Kenya’s vital road networks and ensuring optimal functionality for motorists.

Motorists traveling between Nairobi and Thika must use the service lane during closure hours. Traffic marshals will be stationed on-site to direct vehicles and facilitate the smooth flow of traffic. Therefore, drivers are encouraged to observe traffic rules, follow signs, and remain cautious to avoid accidents. These measures aim to minimize inconvenience for travelers while enabling repairs to progress.

KeNHA emphasized the importance of the roadwork. It aims to improve the condition of Thika Road and prolong its lifespan.
