Kenya Railways Corporation has temporarily suspended commuter train services on the Nairobi–Limuru route, affecting morning and evening operations scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the corporation said the suspension was due to unavoidable circumstances, without giving further details. The affected service normally operates between Nairobi Central Station and Limuru, serving hundreds of daily commuters.
Kenya Railways confirmed that normal operations on the route will resume on Monday, January 12, 2026, and apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused.
The suspension comes months after the corporation halted several Nairobi commuter routes during nationwide protests, citing passenger safety as the primary concern. Kenya Railways has urged commuters to make alternative travel arrangements during the brief disruption.
