Kenya to host World Farmers’ Organisation meeting June 8–11, 2026

Kenya will host the 2026 Annual Meeting of the World Farmers’ Organisation from June 8 to 11, 2026, in a move that positions the country at the centre of global agricultural conversations.

The high-profile event will be organised by the Kenya National Farmers’ Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

The meeting will convene leaders and farmer representatives from 65 countries, alongside policymakers, financiers, private sector players, scientists and multilateral agencies. It will be held under the theme: “Future Fields: Investing in Farmers’ Organisations and Empowering Communities for Sustainable Agriculture.”

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe described the opportunity as a major milestone for Kenya’s agricultural sector. He noted that modern farming is increasingly focused on commercial transformation, decent incomes for farmers, youth participation and technology adoption.

WFO Secretary General Andrea Porro emphasised the importance of financing mechanisms that directly benefit farmers and ensure dignified incomes, particularly as countries seek to attract young people into agriculture.

The 2026 meeting will spotlight youth engagement, digital innovation, soil health, fair trade and farmer-focused financing, while showcasing Kenya’s evolving agricultural ecosystem.

The global gathering is expected to reinforce Kenya’s standing as a continental leader in farmer-driven and technology-powered commercial agriculture.
