Kiambu County Assembly Adjourns Until October 8 Following Death of Nominated Member Ezra Kabuga

The Kiambu County Assembly has announced an adjournment until October 8th following the tragic death of nominated member Ezra Kabuga Kihara. Kihara passed away in a road accident on Sunday.

In a statement, County Assembly Speaker Charles Thiong’o expressed deep sorrow over the loss and outlined the plans to honor Kihara’s memory. “Ezra Kabuga Kihara was a dedicated member of our assembly, and his untimely death is a significant loss to us all,” Thiong’o said.

Kihara, a 34-year-old politician, tragically lost his life in a grisly accident near Mang’u High School along Thika Road. The accident occurred at around 5:30 am on Sunday when his Subaru Forester rammed into the rear of a lorry.

Due to the impact, Kihara died on the spot, and the car caught fire. Governor Kimani Wamatangi confirmed the sad news, describing Kihara as a vibrant and promising young leader whose commitment to serving the people of Kiambu was evident in every aspect of his work.

To pay tribute to Kihara, the assembly has organized several commemorative events. A requiem mass will be held on Thursday, September 26th, followed by a candle lighting ceremony at the county assembly grounds on Monday evening. The final send-off is scheduled for October 1st.

The adjournment of the assembly’s sessions is a mark of respect for Kihara’s contributions and to allow members to participate in the mourning and memorial activities. The assembly will resume its regular sessions on October 8th.
