Kiambu County has begun the distribution of free learning materials to all learners enrolled in public Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres as schools resume for the new term.
The exercise, led by the County Directorate of ECDE, targets 42,000 learners across 524 public ECDE centres countywide. The launch was graced by Governor Dr Kimani Wamatangi, underscoring the county’s commitment to strengthening early childhood education.
County officials said the initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on parents, particularly those from low-income households, while ensuring that all children access quality learning materials at the foundational stage.
The programme is expected to improve equity, boost school attendance, and enhance learning outcomes by providing uniform resources to young learners across Kiambu County as part of broader education and social development efforts.
