Kiambu County Faces Questions Over Undelivered Fertilizer Worth Millions

Kiambu County is under scrutiny following revelations in the Auditor General’s report on County Governments for the 2022/2023 fiscal year. The report raises concerns about undelivered agricultural supplies, specifically fertilizer, totaling a staggering Ksh 30.71 million.

A particularly concerning finding is the Ksh 16.59 million spent on 13,063 bags of coffee fertilizer that were never delivered. The report highlights a complete lack of explanation from the county regarding the missing supplies.

This raises serious questions about procurement procedures and potential financial mismanagement.

Adding to the concerns is a further discrepancy of 11,116 fertilizer bags valued at Ksh 14.12 million. These bags were neither delivered nor accounted for in the county’s records. The Auditor General’s report flags this as an “unexplained balance,” leaving a cloud of uncertainty about the fate of these supplies.

The undelivered fertilizer, valued at a combined Ksh 30.71 million, represents a significant loss for Kiambu County and calls for a thorough investigation into these missing fertilizer deliveries.
