In a bid to save lives that get lost during disasters, the Kiambu County Government, in collaboration with an international organization from Poland, conducted training for the county’s rescue team at the Kiambu Firefighter’s Headquarters.
The twenty rescue workers who graduated from the training gained advanced skills in rescuing victims from fire, building collapse, floods, and road accidents.
The graduates applauded the county government for taking the initiative to train them with advanced machinery, saying the knowledge will help them respond in quickly, thus saving more lives and mitigating more disasters.
“Before this training, when responding to building collapses, we would wait for the KDF because we knew they had undergone superior training. Now, we are confident that we have the right skills,” one graduate remarked.
In addition to the training, the firefighter team received equipment to enhance their ability to carry out rescue missions safely and efficiently. The Kiambu Government aims to strengthen the rescue teams as the county has faced challenges responding effectively to building collapse incidents. Rescue teams from Nairobi County also participated in the training program to ensure the safety of Kenyans and their properties.
