Kiambu County inspects Misri Settlement road upgrade under KISIP II

Kiambu County officials have inspected progress on a major infrastructure upgrade in Misri Informal Settlement, Limuru Municipality, as part of efforts to improve living standards for residents.

The Project Implementation Team (PIT), alongside members of the Social and Environmental Committee (SEC) and the Grievance Redress Committee (GRC), toured the 1.5-kilometre road currently under construction to bitumen standards.

The team noted significant improvements, including completed drainage works, hand-packing, dust mitigation measures, and road dusting, though a few sections remain unfinished.

The project is part of the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project Phase II (KISIP II), co-funded by Kiambu County, the National Government, the World Bank, and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

The scope includes road tarmacking, pedestrian pathways, drainage systems, and street lighting to enhance safety. Officials reported the project is roughly 70 per cent complete and expected to finish by April 2026.
