Kiambu County intensifies environmental oversight as multi-agency team inspects FLLOCA soil and water conservation works in Kiganjo Ward

Kiambu County has intensified environmental compliance and climate resilience efforts with a joint inspection of Financial and Livelihoods Local Community Adaptation (FLLOCA)-supported soil and water conservation projects in Kiganjo Ward.

The County Climate Change Unit, alongside officials from the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS) and the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), toured multiple excavation and terracing sites to assess adherence to environmental, social, health, and safety standards.

Teams evaluated the quality of excavation works, reviewed safety protocols, and engaged directly with the implementing teams to ensure project progress aligns with conservation and climate resilience objectives.

Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s administration emphasises strict compliance with national regulations while protecting communities and natural resources. The inspection forms part of a wider strategy to boost sustainable land management and enhance resilience against climate-related challenges.

Officials confirmed that continued monitoring will ensure FLLOCA initiatives in the county meet both technical standards and social responsibility expectations, benefiting residents and supporting Kenya’s broader environmental goals.
