Kiambu County Launches Land Verification Drive in Githunguri Ranching

In a joint effort with the National Land Commission (NLC) and the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, the Kiambu County Government has today launched a land verification exercise for landowners in Githunguri Ranching Company, Ruiru Municipality.

This four-day exercise aims to verify, validate, and process land titles for plot owners who have been pursuing these land ownership documents for over 30 years.

The initiative marks a significant step toward securing land tenure for the residents of this area, which has been plagued by leadership wrangles, legal battles, and allegations of fraud within the Githunguri Ranching Company.

These issues have significantly impacted the company’s operations and the lives of its members, leading to controversies such as the murder of a company director in 2016 and the emergence of a “fake” office in Ruiru Town.

County officials, along with representatives from NLC and the Ministry of Lands, will be on-site to assist landowners through the verification process. Once verified, land titles will be processed and issued to the rightful owners.

Kiambu County Governor Kimani Wamatangi expressed optimism about the exercise, stating, “This initiative is a testament to our commitment to resolving long-standing land issues in our county.”

Residents have welcomed the move, with many expressing hope that this exercise will finally bring an end to their prolonged struggles.

The County Government of Kiambu, NLC, and the Ministry of Lands have urged all eligible landowners to participate in the exercise and ensure their land records are up-to-date.
