Kiambu County Government has partnered with Kiama Kia Ma elders to support boys’ initiation ceremonies across the county, reinforcing cultural values and mentorship for young men.
Through the Department of Education, Gender, Culture, and Social Services, the county has provided food supplies to assist the initiates during the important rites of passage scheduled for the December holidays.
Governor Kimani Wamatangi urged elders to continue guiding the youth, helping them avoid destructive habits and promoting responsibility, discipline, and respect within the community.
“This collaboration recognises the vital role of our elders in nurturing young men, instilling values that will guide them throughout life,” Wamatangi said.
The initiative forms part of Kiambu County’s broader commitment to preserving cultural heritage while supporting the social development of its youth.
