The Kiambu County Government has joined forces with the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) in a renewed effort to tackle the growing challenges of teen pregnancies, HIV infections, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) among adolescents.
The two teams, led by County Director of Health Dr. Hillary Kagwa, met to discuss coordinated strategies to curb the triple threat, which continues to affect thousands of young people across the county.
Dr. Kagwa said the county remains committed to empowering adolescents with accurate health information, accessible services, and stronger support systems. “We must continue to collaborate with partners to address the root causes of these challenges,” he noted.
The NSDCC pledged technical and policy support for Kiambu’s initiatives, including data-driven interventions and awareness campaigns to promote healthy behaviour and community dialogue. Both parties underscored the need for collaboration among health, education, social, and law enforcement sectors to protect and empower young people.
The partnership will focus on community sensitization, capacity building, and improved service delivery to ensure every adolescent in Kiambu grows up healthy, informed, and free from the triple threats undermining their future.
