Kiambu County is making significant strides in early childhood education under Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s leadership. The county government has embarked on a comprehensive initiative to construct and modernize Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centres across all sub-counties, creating safe, child-friendly, and fully equipped learning environments.
The upgraded facilities are designed to foster holistic growth, cognitive development, and social skills among young learners. Each centre is being furnished with modern learning materials, play equipment, and hygiene facilities, ensuring a conducive environment for both teaching and learning.
Governor Wamatangi emphasized that investing in early education lays a strong foundation for future learning and ensures that every child in Kiambu has access to quality education from the start. “Early education is key to unlocking a child’s potential,” he said, adding that the county will continue to prioritize training for ECDE teachers to enhance teaching quality and learning outcomes.
The initiative also aims to bridge the education gap by providing access to vulnerable and marginalized communities, ensuring no child is left behind. Through these efforts, Kiambu County is setting a benchmark in the region for early childhood development, preparing the next generation of learners for primary school success and beyond.
