Kiambu County has extended a compassionate hand to members of the bodaboda sector as riders and their families continue to grapple with the impact of recent road accidents across the region.
Through the Department of Education, Gender, Culture and Social Services, the County Government distributed blankets and food hampers to riders currently recovering from accident-related injuries, as well as to families who lost their loved ones in the incidents.
Officials said the initiative was meant to ease the immediate strain faced by affected households while reaffirming the County’s commitment to social protection and community wellbeing.
The department noted that bodaboda operators remain a crucial part of Kiambu’s transport system and a major contributor to the local economy. The gesture, they added, is a show of solidarity with a sector that supports thousands of livelihoods but often bears the brunt of road safety risks.
The County also pledged to continue engaging bodaboda associations as part of wider efforts to promote safer roads, support recovery, and strengthen social safety nets for vulnerable groups.
