Kiambu Governor Appear Before Senate Public Accounts Committee Over Revenue and Financial Operations Audit Queries (2018-2022)

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi yesterday appeared before the Senate Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) to address audit queries raised in the financial reports of his predecessors for the fiscal years 2018–2019, 2019–2020, 2020–2021, and 2021–2022.

The governor, accompanied by his executive team, welcomed the Senate’s scrutiny of the county’s finances, emphasizing the importance of accountability in public resource management.

The session was chaired by Homabay Senator Moses Kajwang’. Also in attendance were Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa, and members of the Kiambu County Assembly Public Accounts and Investment Committee.

During the session, the committee identified several irregularities and misstatements in the financial reports of Governor Wamatangi’s predecessors. These findings will be detailed in an upcoming report to be presented to the Senate.

Additionally, the committee identified areas requiring immediate attention under Governor Wamatangi’s administration, including the appointment of a substantive County Secretary, clarification of the liaison officer appointment process, and addressing recommendations from the Controller of Budgets’ performance report.
