Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi condemns bulldozer raid on legally leased business, calls it political persecution

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has accused unidentified individuals of politically motivated harassment after his business near Nyayo Stadium was raided late at night. Bulldozers, accompanied by hundreds of heavily armed police officers, destroyed the premises, leaving property in ruins.

Speaking publicly, Wamatangi said the land in question has been legally leased since 1994, with all lease obligations fully met. “There was no notice, and we had a court order. For the past three years, I have faced political persecution both at work and at home,” he said.

The governor described the raid as an attempt to obstruct his official duties but emphasized that it would not deter him from serving Kiambu residents. He also expressed faith in God to ensure justice prevails.

County officials and legal experts have called for a thorough investigation into the incident to establish accountability and ensure such actions do not undermine lawful property rights.

The Kiambu government has not yet released an official statement regarding the raid, while residents expressed concern over the use of state machinery in political disputes.
