Residents of Nyanduma Ward in Lari Sub-County are set to enjoy improved connectivity and economic opportunities following the official launch of the Kiruiru Bridge construction project.
The bridge, a long-awaited infrastructure development, is expected to ease transportation challenges that have affected residents, especially during the rainy seasons when the area becomes nearly impassable. The project aims to enhance mobility, boost trade, and support the smooth flow of goods and services within Lari Municipality and the wider Kiambu County.
Speaking during the site handover to the contractor, Acting Chief Officer for Roads, Ms. Julie Waweru, said the project underscores the county government’s commitment to addressing long-standing transport challenges faced by rural communities.
“This bridge will not only improve access but also open up economic opportunities for residents who have for years struggled to move their produce to nearby markets,” Ms. Waweru noted.
She was accompanied by County Roads Director Eng. Joseph Kamau, Nyanduma Ward MCA Hon. Beth Wanjiku, Lari Municipal Manager Mr. Jeff Muya, and other county officials.
Local leaders hailed the project as a game changer for Nyanduma Ward, expressing optimism that once completed, it will transform local transport, encourage investment, and uplift livelihoods.
The bridge construction marks a key milestone in Lari’s infrastructural development agenda and is part of the county’s broader effort to improve road networks and public works across all 12 sub-counties.
