Kiambu MP Waithaka announces high mast lighting at Kagongo junction to improve safety

Preparations are underway for a high mast lighting project at Kagongo Junction in Ting’ang’a, Kiambu Town, aimed at improving safety and visibility for residents and local businesses.

MP Machua Waithaka confirmed that the initiative is being implemented by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) under the national government’s rural electrification programme. The high mast will be strategically located at the busy junction where milk farmers bring their produce for collection, ensuring better lighting during early mornings and evenings.

“This project will enhance safety, support local economic activity, and improve living conditions in the area,” MP Waithaka said, adding that government oversight will continue until the project is completed.

The installation of the high mast forms part of a wider effort to modernize public lighting across Kiambu Town, reducing accidents and boosting security for both pedestrians and motorists. Residents have welcomed the development, highlighting the benefits for local traders, farmers, and commuters.

MP Waithaka reaffirmed his commitment to community development, stating that the government remains focused on delivering practical solutions that address everyday challenges faced by residents.
