Kiambu County has moved a step closer to strengthening child protection measures following a high-level consultative meeting between national and county officials on Wednesday.

The National Government Coordinator of Children Services for Kiambu, accompanied by representatives from Child in Family Focus, paid a courtesy call to the Department of Education, Gender, Culture and Social Services to assess ongoing work on the Kiambu County Child Protection Policy, which is currently under development.

The engagement focused on enhancing cooperation between the two institutions and ensuring that all stakeholders remain aligned on the policy’s objectives, timelines and expected outcomes. The county’s delegation was led by Chief Officer for Vocational Training and Social Services, Emily Nkoroi, who affirmed the department’s commitment to delivering a comprehensive framework that safeguards the welfare of children across Kiambu.

Officials noted that the upcoming policy is expected to provide clearer guidelines on child safety, response mechanisms, and community roles in protecting minors, especially in vulnerable environments. The renewed collaboration signals the county’s intention to strengthen its social support systems as it finalizes one of its most important child-welfare policies.
