Kiambu County has partnered with key players in Kenya’s tourism sector to boost agri-tourism and position the county as a leading travel destination.
Governor Kimani Wamatangi on Tuesday welcomed representatives from the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA), Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO), Kenya Airways, and Magical Kenya for a county familiarization tour dubbed the Kiambu County Fam Trip.
The initiative, spearheaded by the County Department of Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, and Investments, seeks to showcase Kiambu’s unique agricultural heritage and hospitality experiences.
The team will tour Karirana Tea Farm, The Ridge Cabin Resort, and Karunguru Coffee Estate, where they will experience firsthand Kiambu’s renowned tea and coffee production and its serene countryside charm.
Governor Wamatangi said the collaboration marks a major step in transforming Kiambu into a vibrant tourism hub. “Our goal is to spotlight Kiambu’s beauty from our lush farms to our growing hospitality sector and invite both local and international tourists to experience it,” he said.
The familiarization tour is part of the county’s broader plan to promote agri-tourism, attract investment, and create sustainable livelihoods through the tourism value chain.
