Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka has initiated extensive renovations at Ting’ang’a Model Primary School, aimed at transforming the institution into a modern and conducive learning environment.
The works, currently underway during the school holiday, involve the reconstruction of several classrooms that were previously in poor condition. The project seeks to improve both the safety and quality of learning for pupils and working conditions for teachers.
According to the MP, most of the classrooms are being rebuilt from the ground up, marking a significant upgrade for the school. The new structures are being fitted with tiled floors, modern blackboards, improved roofing, as well as new windows and doors.
Waithaka said the initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance education infrastructure within Kiambu Town, noting that quality learning spaces play a key role in academic performance and student motivation.
“We are taking advantage of the school holiday to carry out these renovations so that learners can return to a completely transformed environment,” he said.
The MP emphasised that the goal is to provide pupils with a safe, comfortable and inspiring space that supports both learning and teaching. He added that the improvements are expected to boost morale among students while also creating a more professional setting for educators.
Residents and parents in the area have welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the upgraded facilities will improve the overall learning experience and outcomes for pupils at the institution.
The renovations come at a time when there is increasing focus on improving public school infrastructure across the country, with leaders emphasising the need to create environments that match the demands of modern education.
Waithaka assured stakeholders that the works will be completed in time for the new school term in May, allowing learners to resume classes in upgraded facilities.
