Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka launches Riabai street lights, bursary drive

Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka has overseen the continued installation of street lights in Riabai Ward as part of efforts to enhance security and improve economic activity.

The project covers the stretch from Riabai Shopping Centre to Gatina Road and is being implemented by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) under the National Government.

Speaking during the exercise, the MP said security remains a key pillar of his leadership agenda, noting that improved street lighting will help deter crime and create a safer environment for residents and traders.

He added that better lighting will also allow businesses to operate for longer hours, boosting economic activity in the area.

At the same time, Waithaka called on residents of Riabai to collect bursary application forms available at the Chief’s Camps in Riabai and Thathii-ini. He urged eligible families to take advantage of the education support programme.

The street lighting project is expected to improve visibility, strengthen community safety and contribute to development in Riabai Ward.
