Kiambu Town Member of Parliament, Hon. Machua Waithaka, has welcomed a new cohort of young people to the ICT Jitume Centre in Ndumberi. The initiative provides comprehensive training in digital skills including coding, artificial intelligence, virtual assistance, content creation, graphic design, online writing, and website development.
The programme is designed to equip youth with practical knowledge and hands-on experience that can help them secure meaningful employment or launch entrepreneurial ventures in Kenya’s rapidly growing digital economy.
Speaking during the launch, MP Waithaka emphasized the importance of empowering young people with technological skills. “Our goal is to ensure every young person in the constituency can access opportunities in the digital economy. No one will be left behind,” he said.
The ICT Jitume Centre will continue to host training sessions for youth from across Kiambu Town, fostering innovation, creativity, and digital literacy. Participants will also receive mentorship and guidance to help them translate their newly acquired skills into sustainable livelihoods.
The initiative aligns with national efforts to boost youth employment and economic empowerment through technology and innovation. MP Waithaka confirmed that more opportunities and programmes are in the pipeline, aimed at preparing the constituency’s youth for the modern workforce.
