Kirinyaga upgrades rural roads to strengthen livelihoods across all wards

Kirinyaga County has stepped up rehabilitation of rural access roads to ease movement of farm produce, lower transport costs and improve service delivery in villages.

More than 150 kilometres of roads have been graded, with an additional 135 kilometres murramed under an expanded county programme covering all 20 wards. The works are being implemented through the Nyorosha Barabara Mashinani initiative and the Kenya Roads Board programme.

Governor Anne Waiguru said improved roads are critical to boosting farm incomes, enhancing access to health facilities and supporting faster emergency response. Transport CECM Jared Migwi noted that MCAs are working closely with the county to prioritise roads with the greatest community impact.

Residents say the upgrades have reduced travel time, improved safety and restored business confidence.
