KPA disbands Bandari FC Board after poor Kenya Premier League results, interim CEO named to steer club

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has disbanded the entire Bandari Football Club Board of Trustees following a string of disappointing results in the Kenya Premier League.

In a memo signed by KPA Managing Director Capt. William Ruto, the 18-member Board, chaired by Stephen Toya and appointed in March, was officially dissolved. Key figures affected include Capt. Ruto (Patron), Vice Chairman Twaha Mbarak, Club CEO Tony Kibwana, and Treasurer Ayub Nyata, among others.

Capt. Ruto said the decision is aimed at restructuring the club and improving its competitiveness in the FKF Premier League. Tony Kibwana, previously the manager of security services, will act as interim CEO until a new Board is appointed.

Bandari FC, despite hiring former Morocco national team player Mohamed Borjia as head coach, sits 14th on the table with just 12 points after ten matches. The team faces defending champions Kenya Police and Gor Mahia in upcoming fixtures, with sources hinting that further poor results could put Borjia’s job at risk.
