The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has invited Kenyans to submit their views on the Draft Excise Duty (Remission of Excise Duty) Regulations, 2025.
In a public notice, KRA announced that the draft regulations are available on its website, giving citizens, professionals, and stakeholders a chance to review and provide feedback.
“In compliance with the Statutory Instruments Act, Cap. 2A, we invite interested members of the public, professionals, and stakeholders to submit their inputs and comments for consideration in the finalisation of the Regulations,” read the statement.
The taxman urged Kenyans to submit their feedback by September 26, 2025 either by post to the Commissioner General, KRA, or via email at stakeholder.engagement@kra.go.ke
.
The regulations seek to define how excise duty refunds will be managed. Excise duty, charged on products such as alcohol, tobacco, and soft drinks, may be refunded if goods are exported, destroyed, or used in ways allowed under the law.
The draft also spells out application procedures, the required documentation, and the conditions applicants must meet.
KRA says the process is meant to promote transparency and give Kenyans a voice in shaping tax policy.
