KUPPET Kiambu Chapter Joins Nationwide Protest

Today, Kiambu County’s Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) chapter joined their colleagues nationwide in a protest against delayed dues. County Chairperson Rose Kiiru led the teachers as they marched through Kiambu town, voicing their frustrations and demanding timely payment.

Carrying placards and chanting slogans, the teachers highlighted their plight. “We’ve been patient for too long. Our dues are overdue, and we can’t continue working under these conditions,” Kiiru said. “Teachers decided to protest to ensure their voices were heard.” She emphasized.

The protest in Kiambu is part of a larger, nationwide movement by KUPPET members, who have faced similar issues with delayed payments. Teachers from various regions have united to call on the government to address the delays and ensure timely payment of their salaries and allowances.

As the protest gained momentum, the teachers’ resolute stance became clear. “We will not report to work tomorrow if our dues are not paid,” declared one of the teachers. Many others echoed this sentiment, expressing their frustration and disappointment with the current situation.

The protest is expected to significantly impact many schools, potentially causing disruptions if the teachers’ demands are not met. Parents and students have been urged to prepare for possible interruptions in the school schedule.

KUPPET has called for urgent action to resolve the issue and prevent further disruptions to the education system.
