The Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library Committee has kicked off a fresh review of its pending business and upcoming work plan, with Limuru MP John Kiragu Chege taking a central role in shaping the committee’s priorities.
During a working session held yesterday and chaired by Hon. Daniel Nanok, members went through the proposed schedule of activities that guide the committee’s mandate. Kiragu, who serves as the Vice Chair, said the meeting was key in strengthening the effectiveness of parliamentary communication and public engagement.
The committee established under Standing Order 212D oversights several critical functions, including enhancing public participation, improving the broadcasting of parliamentary proceedings, and advising the House on matters relating to library services, publications and research.
Part of its work involves continuous improvements to Parliament’s library and research facilities to ensure members of the public and MPs have better access to information.
Kiragu noted that the renewed focus will help Parliament improve transparency and deliver better service to Kenyans who rely on parliamentary communication for accountability and public engagement.
