Members of UDA Accuses ODM Of Sabotaging Grassroots Elections Urges President Ruto To Intervene

Members of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Tana Delta accuse the Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of interfering in their grassroots elections. They urge President William Ruto to address the issue, claiming ODM leaders sabotaged the process to hinder their party’s progress.

UDA leaders report irregularities during the April 12, 2025 elections. They say Constituency Returning Officers (CROs) in Garsen reassigned clerks and presiding officers on election day. According to them, ODM-affiliated politicians influenced these changes, causing confusion.

Misleading text messages added to the chaos. UDA aspirants received messages stating the elections would occur on April 11 instead of the official date. This misinformation disrupted preparations and confused voters.

Senator Danson Mungatana, a UDA leader in Tana River County, criticized the elections as unfair and against party rules. He demanded the cancellation of results and called for a transparent process. Mungatana warned that continued interference could divide the party. He and other leaders threatened to leave if their concerns remain unaddressed.

These allegations strain the political treaty between President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga. UDA members want Ruto to act quickly to restore trust in the party’s electoral process.

The UDA leadership stresses the need for free and fair elections. They view grassroots elections as vital for strengthening the party and preparing for the 2027 general elections.
