The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned Kenyans against a fraudulent recruitment scheme falsely promising employment in Luxembourg.
Investigations by the State Department of Diaspora Affairs revealed that certain individuals and organisations are posing as recruitment agents and charging illegal processing fees to unsuspecting job seekers.
The department clarified that Luxembourg’s official Public Employment Service, Agence pour le Développement de l’Emploi (ADEM), does not authorize direct recruitment, and no private person or entity is permitted to collect fees on its behalf.
Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu urged Kenyans to verify overseas opportunities through official government channels and avoid recruiters using social media or messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
Members of the public are advised to report suspicious activity via +254114757002 or kazi.majuu@gov.ke. The Ministry promised firm action against those exploiting job seekers.
The alert follows a similar advisory from the Kenyan Embassy in Moscow, which cautioned against traveling to Russia for employment through unverified channels, noting risks of being stranded or losing access to government support.
Kenyans seeking work abroad are urged to confirm legitimacy before sharing personal information or making any payments.
