As part of efforts to foster academic competition in Kiharu, MP Ndindi Nyoro has introduced a privately funded incentive program for schools in Murang’a East and Kahuro Sub Counties.
Under the initiative, teachers recognized for best or most improved subjects and headteachers leading the best or most improved schools are rewarded with fully funded trips abroad. First-time recipients travel to Dubai, while those who have previously visited Dubai are taken to Malaysia.
The programme covers both primary and day secondary schools, aiming to motivate educators and students while promoting excellence. Participating primary schools include Ngaru, Githagara, Technology, Maragi, and Githuguya.
In Dubai, the package includes a five-night stay, a half-day city tour, a Marina dhow cruise dinner with entertainment, a visit to the Burj Khalifa the tallest building in the world and a desert safari with a BBQ dinner.
Ndindi Nyoro emphasized that the initiative is privately funded, noting, “Public resources do not provide for such incentives, but as Africans, Africa is our business.” He said the program is part of a broader effort to create robust competition among schools and inspire both teachers and students.
