A section of Mt Kenya politicians aligned to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have called for the immediate dismissal of Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku over alleged inciteful remarks.
Speaking in Embu on Tuesday, the leaders accused Ruku of making inflammatory statements that risk sowing division between Mt Kenya East and West, regions they said have historically coexisted peacefully.
They urged President William Ruto to act decisively, arguing that the Cabinet Secretary’s conduct undermines efforts to promote national unity. The politicians also faulted the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for what they termed selective enforcement of hate speech laws.
Their remarks followed Ruku’s public criticism of Gachagua during a meeting in Baringo, where he accused the former DP of inciting tension and overstating his political influence in the region.
