Youth leaders from Mt. Kenya East have called on the GEMA community to preserve the unity that has defined the region for over five decades. Speaking in Embu Town during the launch of the GEMA flag on Saturday, the leaders emphasized that political rivalries should not fragment the community’s collective strength.
Led by political lobbyist Kirangacha Mwaniki, the youth said the flag will serve as a symbol of hope, shared purpose, and cohesion across the region. They stressed that unity enables greater achievements than fragmented political alignments.
Mwaniki affirmed that Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who hails from the region, has earned the community’s backing after the UDA victory in the recent Mbeere North by-election. Analysts, including Bosco Kiura, echoed calls to respect Kindiki’s leadership, noting his calm and measured approach positions him to champion the region’s social, political, and economic interests at the national level.
The youth urged residents to focus on practical gains, including fair representation and resource allocation, rather than divisive rhetoric, emphasizing that unity remains the cornerstone of Mt. Kenya’s progress.
