Murang’a County has rolled out term one bursaries targeting top-performing students in public day secondary schools ahead of the 2026 academic year.

Speaking at Ihura Stadium in Murang’a town, Governor Irungu Kang’ata said the programme aims to support bright learners, promote competition and improve overall academic performance across the county. Under the initiative, bursaries were awarded to the top 10 students in every class in all public day secondary schools.

The county further issued one-off cheques to top KJSEA candidates and children with disabilities, while encouraging families to seek supplementary funding through NG-CDF.
