Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu dares UDA to expel him, vows loyalty despite supporting Rigathi Gachagua

Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu has defiantly declared that he will not leave the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) despite being a strong ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, daring party leaders to expel him if they wish.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, October 30, Nyutu dismissed internal party pressure, maintaining that his membership in UDA remains his personal decision.

“If UDA is not happy with Joe Nyutu being a member, let them remove me. I challenge both Jared Okello and Samson Cherargei to go tell the President to strike me off the list,” Nyutu stated.

The outspoken senator said he would leave UDA only on his own terms. “I will leave UDA when I want, but they want me to leave earlier. Tell the party leader to remove me I will be more than glad. I survived even after being removed as Education Committee Chair,” he added.

Nyutu also accused President William Ruto of attempting to infiltrate the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for political gain, claiming that the Head of State is preparing to use the party as a vehicle for his 2027 re-election bid.

“President Ruto has plans to inherit or use ODM for his re-election. He is desperate, and I won’t be surprised if they choose to join forces,” Nyutu alleged.

The senator further argued that Ruto’s alleged desperation stems from a weak foundation within his own party, saying the President “did not hold UDA membership at the time of the last election” and underestimated internal unity.

Nyutu’s remarks have stirred fresh debate within UDA, highlighting growing divisions over loyalty and succession politics in the Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 elections.
