The Nairobi-Ruiru train service is back in operation as of Monday, May 20th, 2024. Trains will run according to the regular schedule, with the first train departing Ruiru station at 6:00 am and arriving at Nairobi Central Station at 7:30 am.
This is welcome news for many residents who rely on this affordable and efficient mode of transportation. However, it’s important to note that the 9:00 am train departing Kahawa West remains suspended until further notice.
The resumption of the Nairobi-Ruiru route follows previous service restorations on routes to Embakasi Village, Lukenya, and Syokimau. The initial suspension in early May was due to heavy rains and flooding that caused damage to railway tracks.
While the Nairobi-Ruiru service is back up and running, Kenya Railways reminds commuters that unforeseen weather conditions or safety concerns could still lead to service disruptions. They advise checking for updates before heading to the station.
