The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has distanced itself from claims of miracle healing attributed to preacher David Owuor, warning Kenyans against accepting unverified assertions of supernatural cures.
The church umbrella body said no individual preacher holds divine authority over healing, emphasising that both spiritual and physical healing remain the work of God. NCCK leaders urged clergy to focus on preaching while encouraging believers to seek proper medical care.
The remarks follow recent crusades where claims were made of cures for serious medical conditions, including HIV and neurological disorders, drawing scrutiny from health authorities and medical professionals.
NCCK National Chair Rev. Elias Otieno said faith and medicine must work together, warning against practices that may discourage patients from accessing treatment. He also called for improved regulation of religious institutions to strengthen accountability and protect the public from misleading practices.
