Construction of the Ndeiya Jitume ICT Hub has officially kicked off in Limuru Sub-County, marking a significant milestone in efforts to expand digital access and technology opportunities for residents.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Ndeiya Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner’s office grounds, bringing together government officials, local leaders and members of the community to witness the start of the project.
The facility will be constructed by Konza Technopolis, with engineers from the organisation already on the ground to oversee the development process. Officials confirmed that construction of the ICT hub will begin immediately.
Leaders present during the ceremony noted that the project will play a key role in improving access to digital services and empowering residents through technology. Once completed, the hub is expected to support digital learning, innovation and employment opportunities, particularly for young people in the area.
Representatives from the project team said the hub will provide residents with access to internet services, digital training programmes and technology resources aimed at equipping the community with skills needed in the modern digital economy.
The project is part of the national government’s broader plan to establish Jitume ICT Hubs in wards across the country. The initiative, being rolled out under the leadership of President William Ruto, aims to bridge the digital divide by ensuring communities across Kenya can access modern technology and digital learning opportunities.
Leaders involved in the project emphasised that the hub will also serve as a centre for innovation, where young people and entrepreneurs can explore technology-driven ideas and develop digital solutions.
The project will be implemented through close collaboration between the national government, Konza Technopolis, local administration and other key stakeholders in the area.
Among those present during the groundbreaking ceremony were representatives from the host office, the area administration, the local Member of County Assembly, Konza Technopolis engineers and members of the Ndeiya community.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the hub will significantly benefit residents by opening up opportunities in technology, online work, entrepreneurship and digital learning.
Once completed, the Ndeiya Jitume ICT Hub is expected to become an important digital resource centre for the community, helping residents access technology, build skills and participate in the growing digital economy.
