New Bus Park Opens in Thika’s Makongeni Area

In a move set to enhance transport infrastructure in Thika town and its environs, the newly constructed Makongeni Bus Park in Kamenu Ward has been officially opened for operations. The sprawling 10,000 square meter facility, strategically located in Makongeni, is poised to significantly improve transport services across several key destinations.

The Makongeni Bus Park, boasting a capacity to accommodate 120 public vehicles, will cater to routes spanning Kitui, Matuu, Garissa, Nairobi, and Thika towns. This development marks a crucial step towards easing congestion and streamlining transportation within the region.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, local officials highlighted the park’s modern amenities and its potential to enhance commuter experience. Mr. John Mwangi, a commuter from Thika, expressed optimism about the new facility, noting, “This will greatly improve our travel experience. It’s spacious and well-organized.”

Additionally, in a bid to further modernize transportation infrastructure, authorities have directed the Department of Roads and Transport to relocate the existing Thika Town bus park. This directive aims to enhance accessibility and ensure alignment with evolving urban development plans.
