NTSA suspends 62 PSV drivers for safety breaches, mandates re-testing and training before resuming service

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended the licences of 62 public service vehicle (PSV) drivers following a compliance review that uncovered serious safety breaches across seven transport operators.

The affected drivers include 23 from Tahmeed Express Limited, 13 from Latema Travellers Bus and Safari Company, 10 from Meru Nissan Operators Sacco, 6 from Moline Prestige Services Shuttle, 7 from MTrans Sacco, and 3 from Enabled Mashariki Investment Limited.

NTSA has ordered all suspended drivers to undergo mandatory re-testing before returning to the road. Operators are also instructed to conduct road safety training for all drivers and present selected vehicles for inspection.

The Authority said these measures are part of ongoing efforts to ensure road safety compliance, protect passengers, and reduce accidents, particularly during the festive season. NTSA added that additional operators remain under review to guarantee full adherence to safety standards.

“These actions demonstrate our firm commitment to ensuring safe transport for all road users, especially during the busy festive period,” NTSA stated.
