ODM Thika branch mourns Raila Odinga, celebrates him as a timeless movement that transcended politics and generations

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Thika Branch has joined Kenyans across the country in mourning the death of the party’s leader, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as a movement that went far beyond politics.

Led by Kiambu County Secretary General David Moreka, the branch members paid tribute to Raila as “the enigma, the lion of politics, the champion of democracy, and a Pan-African statesman.”

Speaking after signing the condolence book at Christina Gardens in Thika Town, Moreka said Raila was not just a political leader but a symbol of resilience, vision, and people’s power.

“Raila Odinga was not just a politician he was a movement. His voice echoed like a rhythm through the corridors of power and the streets of Kenya and Africa at large,” Moreka said.

He recalled how Raila’s strong connection with Thika began during the 1995 Kenya Delegates Conference held at the Thika Municipal Stadium, an event that, he said, marked the dawn of a defining political journey for Kenya’s democracy.

ODM Thika Branch Chair Richard Kiyonda urged members to stay united and focused on upholding Raila’s vision, saying that the best way to honour his legacy was through action.

“Let us remain steadfast, build stronger grassroots networks, and recruit more members as we prepare for the future. That’s how we keep his dream alive,” Kiyonda stated.

The branch members pledged to continue advancing Raila Odinga’s ideals of unity, justice, and inclusive governance, saying his spirit would continue to inspire Kenya’s democratic path for generations to come.
