Police Arrest Suspect, Seize Cannabis in Ruaka Crackdown

Ruaka police intensified their crackdown on illegal drug activities, arresting a suspect and seizing a large quantity of cannabis in Gacharage, Kiambaa sub-county, Kiambu County.

Officers confiscated 43 rolls and around 2kg of unprocessed cannabis (bhang). Their swift action reinforced ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region. Acting on intelligence reports, they uncovered illicit drug dealings and quickly apprehended the suspect.

Authorities continue to escalate efforts to curb drug distribution and consumption, especially in urban centers like Ruaka, where drug-related activity has surged. Notably, this operation is part of a broader initiative aimed at dismantling narcotics networks.

Speaking about the arrest, law enforcement urged community members to report suspicious activities. “Residents must stay vigilant and report illegal dealings. Only through cooperation can we maintain safety and order,” a senior officer stated.

Ruaka remains a focal point for police due to growing concerns over drug trafficking and youth consumption. Recent crackdowns have led to multiple arrests and the confiscation of various narcotics, including marijuana.

The suspect will face charges related to drug possession and trafficking. Authorities remain committed to ensuring justice prevails. Additionally, police assured the public that further operations would target illegal drug activities.

Residents welcomed the latest move, expressing relief over law enforcement’s decisive action. “Drug use among the youth has risen significantly, and it’s alarming. Hopefully, these arrests send a strong message,” a local leader remarked.

On April 17, police in Nairobi arrested two men with 40 kilograms of bhang in an operation within the Karen area.

Besides the bhang, officers recovered 203 rolls, 100 packets of razzlers, Sh1,400 in cash, and one rolling flag. Moreover, they impounded a motorcycle believed to have been used in the illegal trade.

A police report confirmed that the suspects were booked at the Industrial Area Police Station, awaiting arraignment.

Earlier that week, the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) arrested two suspected bhang traffickers in Machakos County.
