President Ruto leads nation in mourning Kimani Ichung’wah’s father, Mzee Isaac Ngugi

President William Ruto on Thursday, September 4, joined Kenyans in mourning the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.

Mzee Ngugi died at his home in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, at the age of 105.

In his condolence message, President Ruto hailed the late Ngugi as an industrious businessman and a pioneer who played a key role in shaping Kikuyu Town. The Head of State further noted Ngugi’s legacy of community empowerment, describing him as a man whose impact will be felt for generations.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends for the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah. Rest in Peace, Mzee,” President Ruto said.

Ngugi’s death was first announced by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who praised the late patriarch for his century-long contribution to society, noting that his legacy remains an inspiration.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen was among other leaders who also conveyed condolences, expressing sympathy and solidarity with Ichung’wah’s family.

Ichung’wah, one of Ruto’s closest political allies, has been instrumental in driving the government’s agenda in Parliament, making Ngugi’s passing a moment of both personal and political mourning.
