PS Bitok confirms Grade 10 placement timeline; KJSEA 2025 results to be released by December 11

Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok has clarified the timeline for Grade 10 placement following the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) 2025 exams.

Speaking in Kikuyu on Monday, November 17, PS Bitok confirmed that placement letters will be issued before Christmas. The process will commence one week after KJSEA results are released, which is scheduled for December 11. Approximately 1.1 million learners are expected to report to their respective senior schools on January 12, 2026.

“The results will be out by December 11, and we will start placement immediately after so that learners can join senior school smoothly,” Bitok said. He added that the ministry has issued clear guidelines to prevent confusion and ensure a seamless transition.

On school fees, PS Bitok reassured parents that there will be no changes next year. “The policy on free education is still in place, and all learners will continue enjoying free primary and secondary education. Any changes, if necessary, will be officially announced by the government,” he said.

The ministry is finalising a nationwide school verification exercise to determine the exact number of students and institutions. This will ensure timely release of capitation funds and smooth operations in all learning institutions. “We are confirming student numbers and school accounts to avoid releasing funds to unverified schools,” Bitok explained.

He emphasized that the Treasury will work closely with the Ministry of Education to ensure that all schools receive the necessary resources to maintain learning activities without interruption.
