Residents of Mastore, Juja, Outcry Over Three Months of Darkness and Inconsistent Supply

Residents of Salama Village in Juja Mastore, Kalimoni ward, are now calling out for help over the frequent power outages they have been experiencing. The residents have said the power disruption has caused business operators to count losses since many depend on electricity to operate their daily activities.

“Farmers who use incubators to hatch eggs are counting huge losses. When the power goes out for half a day, all the eggs become unviable and are discarded, as they are no longer fertile,” a resident said in agony.

In addition to power disruption, other parts of Juja Mastore have been in blackout for the last three months after the electricity they had benefited from former president Uhuru’s project of the last mile was removed by Kenya Power. The officials visited the area and cited the connection needed to be better.

“We have been paying tokens since 2016 and they have been paying visits in the area for inspection. What has changed that Kenya Power decided to leave us in blackout?” asked Peter, a resident of Mastore.

Residents are appealing to their leaders, led by their area MP Hon. Koimburi and Kiambu Senator Karung’o wa Thangwa, to voice their grievances to Kenya Power so that they can get help.

“We saw last time Senator Karung’o wa Thang’wa air the grievances of Gatei residents in Gatundu North at the Senate when they had a similar problem, and Kenya Power solved the issue. We are also asking for the same,” they stated.
