President Ruto, while attending an interdenominational church service at Kipsitet Primary School in Kericho County, promised to continue donating funds to churches. This comes amid criticism from the Catholic Church regarding his recent donation at a Catholic Church in Soweto, Nairobi. The president had donated 5.6 million which was later returned.
“We are going to give so that the word of God can reach those who have not known Him,” Ruto said. Defending his giving, the president emphasized that he would continue to serve God through donations. He stated that he has no apology for his contributions, reiterating his understanding of the biblical teaching that it is more blessed to give than receive.
“I have built churches for the last 30 years, and I know the secret of giving,” the president added.
The church led by the catholic clergy has called for sanity in the country, asking the leaders to prioritize solving the crumbling economy that has left Kenyans with empty pockets.
